OHF Launches Gender Identity Inclusiveness Training for Team Officials
Submitted By CVHA Office on Tuesday, July 25, 2017
CAMBRIDGE, ON – The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) along with the Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) and Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) are pleased to announce the launch of a new training module for team officials, to support trans-inclusive hockey in Ontario, Understanding Discrimination based on Gender Identity and Gender Expression.

There are two modules which will educate team officials on this important topic. Team officials  will be a required to complete this course by October 1, 2017.Team Officials who have not completed the on-line course by this date will not be eligible to continue participating until the on-line course has been completed.

The on-line course is free to take and in total takes approximately 1:45 minutes. This is a requirement for all Team Officials regardless of the age group or level of hockey (house league, select, “A”, “AA” or “AAA”) that the individual is working with.

“The Ontario Hockey Federation is proud to be at the forefront of trans-inclusive sport and is glad to be working with Hockey Northwestern Ontario and Hockey Eastern Ontario through this process,” said Tony Foresi, OHF President.
This process started in 2013, when a complaint to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario was filed against Hockey Canada alleging discrimination in services based on gender identity.

The e-modules will be available to team officials through the following link:
