Information on Return to Play is currently being updated to our Board through the GTHL. Expected details of the on-ice program will be made available as of September 1, 2020.

We can confirm the on-line Registration will open as of September 7, 2020. At this point in time we are unable to confirm the specifics of the fees as we await to receive more details from the GTHL regarding the on-ice program. We will be posting all details as soon as they become available to us.

For those families who have pre-registered for House League, a registration link will be forwarded to you prior to September 7.  We recommend that all families interested in participating and have not Pre-registered do so through the following link as soon as possible.

The OHF has released guidelines and more detail for their suggested Stage 3A and on.  While these are guidelines, final decisions to when and how practice and game play still falls to the GTHL and then the CVHA and Vaughan Rangers.  MOST RECENT UPDATE JULY 31, 2020

The OHF has released further details in relation to Stage 3.  While there are a lot of details and variations that they have listed, the GTHL, who we fall under, has still not given the green light for any sanctioned activities.  Dates and programs are still being reviewed by the GTHL with all of its members, and more information will come out in the next couple of weeks from them as to what our programs may be looking like.  In the meantime, no changes from the July 4 update detailed below.  For further information, please refer to the GTHL website for the most recent information relevant to our association.

UPDATE - JULY 4, 2020
Please continue to refer to the links below for the relevant information from each site.

The Province has expanded on the previous restriction of only those individuals who are approved by the OHF and who were a  Hockey Canada Licensed Development Skills Instructor.  As of now, individual and small group skills development training may occur if the instructors on the ice have obtained their own private insurance to cover players and themselves.  Please keep in mind that if you are a coach and obtain your own private insurance, GTHL tampering rules still apply and only players from the CVHA/Vaughan Rangers may be on the ice.

GTHL, CVHA, and VAUGHAN RANGERS SANCTIONED ACTIVITIES ARE STILL NOT PERMITTED.

This means any activity by any of these groups or individuals REMAINS UNAPPROVED AND THEREFORE UNINSURED.  Please make sure you verify that the instructor/coach has obtained private insurance.

UPDATE - JUNE 30, 2020

Please continue to refer to the links below for the relevant information from each site.

Over the weekend, the Ontario Emergency Order (OEO) was amended to expand who can operate programming. Essentially, the limitation of professional athletes, NSO’s and PSO’s was lifted and activities within arenas are now under the direction of the specific facility operator. The facility operated and the contractor of the ice are responsible to ensure the activities are being conducted within the other elements required by the Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments and local health requirements. This means that, if the facility permits it, private hockey instructors and other individuals can resume activities providing they are operating within all the health requirements.  All participants are responsible for obtaining their own insurance.  You are not insured through Hockey Canada, the GTHL, CVHA or Vaughan Rangers.

GTHL, CVHA, and VAUGHAN RANGERS SANCTIONED ACTIVITIES ARE STILL NOT PERMITTED.

This means any activity by any of these groups or individuals REMAINS UNAPPROVED AND THEREFORE UNINSURED.

As of right now, according to the Government of Ontario, the only way to legally be on the ice is to be part of one of the following:
Link to the GTHL Return to Play Information Site
  1. National Sports Organization (NSO) - Hockey Canada
  2. Provincial Sports Organization (PSO) - Ontario Hockey Federation, which minor hockey associations (MHA) are members
  3. OHF Hockey Canada Licensed Development Instructor
  4. Professional Hockey Player
Until further notice and review, the GTHL has decided not to allow their member associations, of which we belong, to return to on ice activities.  This means that coaches are not allowed to rent ice and skate players at this time.

The only legal way to have a player on the ice at this time is with a certified OHF Hockey Canada Licensed Skills Instructor.  Players and parents are responsible for verifying that the instructor has this certification.

DO COACHES NEED TO BECOME LICENSED INSTRUCTORS?

NO.  MHA coaches are not required to take this certification unless they want to offer skilled instruction to players outside of coaching.  Once the GTHL approves MHA'S to participate in on-ice activities, those coaches in good standing with the CVHA and Vaughan Rangers from the 2019-2020 season will be allowed to rent ice and conduct practice sessions upon following the proper protocols and procedures.  The OHF Hockey Canada Licensed Development Instructor program is provide skill instructors (player, goalie, power skating) the opportunity to become certified to deliver training within the Province of Ontario, and ensure they are properly insured and certified, along with additional benefits from Hockey Canada.

The Province and the Municipalities are the ones enforcing this as per Provincial law, and those found in violation may face significant fines.

These requirements and laws may change at any time and is governed by the Province, the OHF, and the GHTL.
