Message from CVHA President
To All Our CVHA House League, Vaughan
Rangers Families & Volunteers
hopeful that this correspondence finds you and your family in good health and
have been coping well throughout the COVID 19 pandemic period. Understandably,
the past number of months have been challenging and I am certain that
collectively, we are looking forward to 2021 with great optimism.
Since the 2020 season ended abruptly this past March, the CVHA Executive have been trying to find creative ways of offering some form of modified program to open the season in September, but unfortunately, we were faced with Public Health Restrictions, creating various setbacks. As much as we are in agreement with the imposed restrictions that have been implemented, we are concerned of the lasting impact this may have on the children within the program.
We were pleased that the players within our Rangers program at the various levels were able to take advantage of the City ice that was made available to them and offer modified ice instructional sessions. Having said that, it was equally disappointing that we were unable to establish instructional sessions for the children within our house league program, to have a similar opportunity.
Our governing body, the Greater Toronto Hockey League, had initially set a date of January 4th for which they would determine a potential Return to Play date. Unfortunately, with the most recent York Region Lockdown (Grey Zone), which is to extend into January, and with the numbers of COVID cases increasing, I believe it will take nothing short of miracle to commence playing hockey this season.
Our hope is that the kids will be playing again in the New Year, but we will await the decision of the GTHL in early January to determine our next steps. If in fact hockey will not be able to commence, the CVHA will begin to process the House League refunds currently outstanding. These refunds will be sent in cheque form via Canada Post. Our CVHA Administrative Office is currently closed and will reopen January 4th. If you have any programing related questions or house league refund questions, please do not hesitate to reach out at that time.
On behalf of the entire City of Vaughan Hockey Association Executive Board, we would like to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday Season and the Best of Wishes for the New Year.
