EQUAL ICE and FAIR PLAY

The overriding objective is, as always, that all players achieve equal ice time, within reasonable limits.

Periods will be 15-15-15 running time with 3 minute shifts (buzzer will sound to announce change).  Equal ice/fair play must be followed.   Lines set at the beginning of the game must be maintained throughout the game.  Players must be rotated numerically within the Forwards and the Defense.  i.e.  If there are 7 Forwards, Shift 1 – Player # 1,2,3, Shift 2 - # 4,5,6, Shift 3 - # 7,1,2, etc…

If pulling the Goalie, coaches can put out any player they choose, providing that player was not on the previous shift.    Referees do not get involved in the equal ice/fair play policies of the Tournament.

Coaches are not to call referees over to discuss equal ice/fair play issues and referees are not to allow any time delays for equal ice/fair play issues.

POWER PLAY LINES

There are NO Power Play Lines in the Round Robin game Play.  Power Play Lines will be permitted in the Semi Finals and Championship Games ONLY.  In those games they are permitted in the last 3 minutes of Regulation Time and the last 3 minutes of Overtime play ONLY. Any Coach not complying with this policy will immediately be ejected for the balance of the game and possibly the Tournament (at the Discretion of Tournament Chair)

Advancement Criteria

TYKE & MINOR NOVICE & NOVICE - 8 TEAM ADVANCEMENT CRITERIA

Teams will play a full round robin qualifying series within their respective divisions A or B.

“Divisional Tie Breaking” chart below will be applied to determine who will advance to Semi Finals.

If 2 teams are tied , Tie breakers  a- f (in order) will be applied . If more than 2 teams are tied, tie breakers b-f(in order) will be applied.

At the conclusion of the Round Robin, two Semi-Finals will be played, with the 1st place A division (home) playing 2nd place B division (visitor) and 1st place B division (home) play 2nd place A division (visitor).

The winners of the Semi Finals will proceed to the Championship game. The tie breaker formula will be applied (see “Divisional Tie Breaking” chart below), using Qualifying Round games only, to determine the home position in the Championship game.

DIVISIONAL TIE-BREAKING DETERMINATION

Chart Divisional Qualifying Round

  1. Head-to-head record between tied teams.

  2. Team with best record (most wins counts first) gains higher position

  3. GFA percentage of all games played within the Round Robin.

  4. Lowest total penalty minutes incurred in Tournament within the Round Robin or Qualifying Round

  5. Team that scored first goal in game between two tied teams

  6. Coin Toss.

Chart GFA Formula

GFA closest to 1.000 advances

Goals for + Goals against = total goals; GFA = goals for divided by total goals.

e.g. 25 + 15 = 40 ; GFA = 25/40 = .625

Semi Finals and Championship Games Over Time Play

Penalties from regulation time will carry over into overtime.

At the end of regulation time, a 9 minute running overtime will be played. For the first 3 minute segment, teams play full strength. For the next 3 minute segment, teams play 4 a side with different players. For the final 3 minute segment, teams will play 3 on 3. If still tied, a shoot-out will be played.

SHOOT-OUT FORMAT

Each team will choose 3 players to shoot and advise the referee.  The Home team shoots first.
After each team has taken three shots, if the score remains tied, the shootout will proceed to a “sudden death” format.    NO PLAYER repeats until all players from their team have had a shot. All players are eligible to participate in the shootout unless they are serving a ten minute misconduct or have been ejected from the game for any reason. Each goal scored will be recorded on the game sheet, but the final game score will be recorded as a 1 goal win by the winning team.  i.e. the winning team’s score will be 1 higher than their score after regulation time.
