Respect in Sport - Parent on-line Program

If you are a first time Hockey Parents once you have completed your on line registration you will be required to do an on-line Respect In Sports Program.  You will only ever have to do this course 1 time. This program has been mandated by Hockey Canada and ALL parents who have a child playing hockey are required to take the on line course.
A link will be forwarded to you by our CVHA Office upon within 1 week of completing and paying for your on line registration. Please see below for more information.

When registering for the Parent Respect In Sports Program you MUST select

"HL-City of Vaughan House League" as your child's association.  (Please do NOT select Vaughan Rangers or HL-Vaughan JCC)

The Ontario Hockey Federation and GTHL, of which the CVHA is a member, have mandated that every player must have at least one parent/guardian complete the Respect In Sport - Parent on-line program prior to the start of the upcoming season or they will become ineligible to participate in league play.

Respect in Sport – Parent Program is a short online program that we hope assists in the prevention of bullying, abuse, harassment, and discrimination. The program’s mission is to empower participants to recognize signs of inappropriate behavior and eliminate it from the game, through a culture of respect.

The due date for the completion of this program for Parents of House League Players is September 3, 2019.  Once you have completed the course the CVHA Office will be notified and you child we become eligible to participate this season.
No Player in the CVHA will be eligible for any on ice or off ice activity until the parent has completed the on line course and the CVHA has received confirmation of parent course completion.

In CVHA terms this means your child’s name will not be forwarded to Convenors for inclusion in on ice pre season assessments, practices, exhibition or regular season games.

Quick FAQ’s

  1. Only 1 parent per household is required to take the program.

  2. The cost of the program is $12.00 per family.

  3. Parents who are team officials and have taken the Coaching Respect in Sports Program are still required to take the Respect In Sport – Parent program.

  4. What will happen if I do not complete it by the specified compliance deadline? After the deadline for compliance, player participation will be denied until the program has been completed.

  5. Is this required every year? There is no expectation for annual re certification, however, if there is an issue, the parent/guardian may be asked to take the program again.

  6. What if I have more than one child registered in the GTHL? The program allows you to add more than one of your children to your profile on the child management page. This includes your children who join the League or are registered after you have completed the program.

  7. Players 18+ a parent/guardian does not need to complete it. The player can take the course

How do I complete the Parent Program?

The program can be accessed through the GTHL website http://www.gthlcanada.com/article/respect-in-sport-parent-program.  Follow the link and then click the register tab half way down the page. It is a one hour online program with both audio and visual features that allows flexibility and does not have to be completed in one session.
